Sea of knowledge - Lords of Metal

Englische Version (neu): This band released its debut 'Sea Of Knowledge' last year, but for some reason it reach our headquarters just recently. My first acquaintance with these Germans was by the songs that I'd heard on compilation CDs. InfiNight was one of the few bands on those compilations that were worth mentioning. For that reason I'm not mournful about the fact that I received the full-length of this band. There where many young bands hurry in making a debut album, InfiNight has taken the time to write and arrange their songs and that's clear after hearing this album. The song sound completed and there has been paid attention to the arrangements. The music is also played well and sounds "natural". Fortunately the music isn't they typical German heavy metal which we have too much of these days. InfiNight's heavy metal reminds me more of a band like Nevermore, but the thrashy riffs also remind of a band like Iced Earth. They have also paid much attention to melodic and acoustic pieces, which creates the atmosphere of the later Sentenced in a song like 'Beyond Reach'. Concluding we can say that there isn't a short of variety on this album, which is also a point of criticism. Because of the many changes in the tempo and mood, the songs are not catchy enough to stay recognizable and a playing time of one hour is a bit too much to keep the attention. Martin Klein's voice is also of the kind that you have to get used to. He has a powerful voice and is a good singer, but I can imagine that not everyone will be charmed by it. Despite a few points that need attention, 'Sea Of Knowledge' has become a respectable debut album. Fans of melodic heavy metal should consider hearing this album.
